#Bales4Blair

You may recall Amy Blaikie as the woman who began a petition that was later lodged at parliament to use wool carpet and wool products in all Government tenders and Kiwibuild housing.

Along with others, she has been instrumental in another campaign to have farmers donate bales of wool ex farm to be made into insulation for the Southland Charity Hospital.   Additional funds will be used to purchase wool carpet for the hospital.

In support of Amy and this amazing initiative, New Zealand Woolscouring Limited will be scouring the wool at no charge.  Roughly 200 bales are needed for the insulation.

The Southland Charity Hospital was founded by the community, for the community, and was part of a legacy of Blair Vining and his family.  Blair was diagnosed with terminal cancer, but was unable to access specialist help before it took his life.

The hospital will be accessible for those in the Southern part of New Zealand and will provide free health services.

#Bales4Blair runs until the 31st of January 2021 and it is easy to donate to.  Using the Brand “#BALES4BLAIR” on the side of your bales, you just need to complete a separate specification sheet and contact your local wool broker.

At this point, 29 bales have been promised.

We will update you on progress for this initiative as more bales are offered.
